Q: Will my @domain.ie email keep working during a website move?

That is the part DIY migrations break. I map MX, SPF, DKIM, and where the mailbox actually lives (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or the host) before DNS changes. The website move must not take mail with it.

Q: Will I lose Google rankings when I change host or domain?

Not if every old URL gets a 1:1 redirect and Search Console is updated. That mapping is part of the job. I do not promise rankings never move; I do the technical work that stops them falling off a cliff.

Q: Is a Wix or Squarespace move the same price as a host change?

No. A straightforward WordPress-to-WordPress host or domain move is €250. Rebuilding content off a website builder is quoted from the page count, because it is a rebuild, not a copy.

Q: Can you move me off WordPress to a static or AI site?

I do not sell that as a product. I move existing sites, including off website builders and, if you need it, back to WordPress. A conversion service is not the same thing as a site that is actually looked after.

New hosting, a new .ie, or off a website builder — careless moves lose mail, SSL, and the Google rankings that bring customers in. I copy everything first, test the new home, and only switch DNS when it works. The old site stays live until then.

Three different jobs (don't mix them up)

New host, same WordPress

Copy files + database, change the DNS A record, new SSL, php version matched. This is the €250 job when email is understood first. Typical when you're leaving a slow or unhelpful Irish/UK host.

New domain

Rebrand or you finally own the .ie. I change the domain everywhere WordPress stores it, then 301 every old URL to its new equivalent so Search Console and bookmarks follow.

Platform rebuild

Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, or an AI site builder (Durable, Framer, Lovable) to WordPress. Or back to WordPress after a static export or an AI rebuild. Content and redirects, quoted from how much is on the old site, not a file copy.

I also recover sites from developers you've lost touch with, and split or merge sites without orphaning URLs.

Exports and AI rebuilds are a different job

These get sold as if they were maintenance. They are moves, and sometimes they are rebuilds.

WordPress to a static website

A plugin, or a "make it static" service, dumps the pages out as HTML. Forms, search, draft previews, and pages behind a login often break in that dump. Google still needs a 1:1 redirect for every old address, and a sitemap that matches the new files.

WordPress rebuilt by AI as a static website

An AI generates a new site from the old one. You lose the CMS, and you often lose the URL map, the structured data, and the copy you already ranked with. That is a rebuild, not a safer WordPress.

An AI website moved to WordPress

Durable, Framer, Lovable and the rest. Same job as Wix or Squarespace: rebuild the content, then redirect every old address. Quoted from how much is on the site, not the €250 file-copy price.

If the current WordPress site works, converting it is optional. Keep it updated. If someone already converted it and the result is a mess, that is a repair, or a move back, and I quote it before starting.

What actually breaks on a Friday afternoon

Email. Website DNS and mailbox DNS are not the same thing. If MX/SPF still point at the old host, mail dies when you change nameservers. I write down where Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or the host mailboxes live before the switch.
SSL. The new home needs a certificate on the new IP before you cut over, or visitors get a scary padlock for an hour.
Redirect map. A single "redirect the domain" is not enough. Every old blog slug, trailing-slash variant, and www needs a target or Google treats it as a new site.
Search Console / Analytics. Property moves, sitemap resubmit, and the domain change tool when the hostname changes.

The original stays online until the new copy has been tested: pages, forms, shop, and a test email.

Rankings

I don't promise "your rankings will never move". I do the job that stops a move looking like a disappearing website: 1:1 redirects, canonicals, and Search Console told where everything went. That's standard, not a premium add-on.
